WordPress.org Launches a Fresh, New Design – WordPress.org has recently redesigned its website, the design that has been officially launched is visible on the homepage and the plugins section of the directory itself is still in testing. On the homepage, most of the design has changed except for the header and footer sections which still retain the old design. With the new design, this is certainly a great breakthrough for WordPress even though it is a bit late and many users have long wanted WordPress to provide a fresher and more mobile friendly appearance.
WordPress is known as the most popular website builder platform in the world and have produced many awesome sites with amazing designs, but the WordPress site itself will only change its design at the end of the year, the WordPress team should have made design changes for a long time.
This WordPress design is still not finished, this is the first step. Mark Uraine in his announcement said “That the new design being launched is a temporary iteration and the plan is to continue the design and development to create something truly amazing, and this is the first step towards that goal”.
And here’s a look at the new design from WordPress.org
On the homepage, you can see that WordPress is implementing a fresh design by following current design trends, the display is still made simple but modern and more mobile friendly. The colors remain predominantly blue and white which doesn’t take away from WordPress. When we scroll, we will see a large image in the middle showing pieces of well-known websites that use WordPress such as Vogue, Techcrunch, Bloomberg and many more.
On the page section directory plugins
Your WordPress will see that the interface is still in an old design, but if you pay close attention you will find a link at the top that says “Test out the new Plugin Directory and let us know what you think.” Please click on the link and you will be taken to the trial website from WordPress.org. The new design of this plugin directory page features a more prominent search field to make it easier for users to quickly find the plugin they want to search. The design in this section still looks simple but the appearance looks more fun. And when we opened the plugins list, we also implemented a new, more user-friendly design, unlike the old design which placed many tab menus, but it was made unified and simpler.
And that’s the design launched by WordPress on the WordPress.org site, hopefully WordPress will soon launch the WordPress.org site design as a whole because we can see that there are still many parts that still use the old design and look too simple such as the support forum section, about, hosting, mobile, blogs and many other parts of the site that must be applied to a new design immediately because the old design is not very mobile friendly, while the new design that is applied to the homepage and plugin directory already looks mobile friendly.

Soon in the last version of 2018, WordPress will also bring major changes to the WordPress editor, the WordPress Gutenberg editor will become the default WordPress editor, but now you can also use the Gutenberg editor in the plugin version. Please study the Gutenberg editor from now on so that later when it actually becomes the original version of WordPress you won’t be confused.
