SEO Friendly Images is a plugin WordPress SEO optimization which automatically updates all images with the appropriate ALT and TITLE attributes. If your image doesn’t have ALT and TITLE, then by using this plugins that have been set automatically, SEO Friendly Images will add it according to the options you choose. Apart from that this makes the W3C / xHTML post valid too.
By optimizing images to be more search engine friendly, it is also very important for you to do because search through images is also very often done by users, you can use this as a source of traffic from image searches that will bring visitors to your site.
Here are some important Attributes of Image that you need to fill in for SEO optimization:
ALT attribute: is an important part of search engine optimization. It describes your image for search engines and when a user searches for a particular image this is a factor that determines the keywords for search engine competition.
TITLE attribute: plays a small but important role for the visitor as this text will automatically appear in the tooltip when the mouse is over the image.
Descriptions: This is also important for you to fill in because filling in the image description allows search engines to translate what the image means.
Installation & Use of SEO Friendly Images
- Install and activate SEO Friendly Images
- Go to the Plugins page and activate the plugin.
- Setting and modifying the ALT and TITLE image options.
The SEO Friendly Images plugin has an option that can recognize two tags% title (post title) and% name% (image file name). By combining two tags and additional words (photo, image etc.) you can automatically generate relevant alt and title tags for all images.
- % title – to replace the post title
- % name – to replace with image file name (without extension)
- % category – to replace the post category
- % tags – to replace with post tags
Example of SEO Friendly Images
In a post titled “Car Picture“While the picture is named: Ferrari.jpg
Set the alt attribute “% name% title“Will produce alt =”Ferrari Car Picture“
Title attribute setting for “% photo name“Will produce title =”Ferrari photo ”.
However, to create SEO friendly images on WordPress if you don’t want to make it automatically you can do it yourself, because too many plugins are also not good for WordPress itself. To do this every time you upload an image you can manually fill in the Alt tags and Descriptions of the image and don’t forget to always give a name that matches the keywords you want to shoot. You can see an example of the image below that I have made to be more SEO friendly.
The above shows that I do SEO optimization on images in WordPress by providing an image name that contains keywords, and filling in Alt Text and Description with sentences that also contain keywords.
You can use the SEO Friendly images plugin if your site is updated frequently and you may not want to do it manually to save time, but if you can do it manually then you will get better results. And until the time I wrote this article, the SEO Friendly Images plugin hasn’t been updated either (this could be a danger to your WordPress site if the plugin has a bug).
Above is a complete guide on how to use the SEO friendly Images plugin and how to optimize images to make it more SEO friendly. Hopefully this article is useful and good luck. 🙂
