1. Install WordPress Themes With Search Features
For the first method, you can use this search feature if you want to install a WordPress theme that is already in the official WordPress.org library. This is the easiest and fastest way for you to do it.
To install this search feature the first thing you need to do is go to your WordPress admin area. Next, click on the menu Appearance »Themes.
Once you are on the Themes page, click on the “Add New” button at the top.
After you click “Add New”, then you will see a page with lots of WordPress themes displayed in thumbnail form. And at the top there is a menu of theme choices based on “Featured”, “Popular”, “Latest”, “Favorites” or you can filter themes with various choices.
In the upper right corner there is a search field that you can use to search for themes according to the name of the theme you want to install. For example, I already have a free theme named “Hueman”. To install it, I type in the search form with the keyword “Hueman” as shown above.
After that, you will see a WordPress theme named “Hueman” displayed and when your thumbanail highlight, the Detail and Preview button will appear and at the bottom there are the Install and Preview buttons. Please click the “Install” button.
WordPress will then install the theme and display a success message. But to use the theme you have to activate it by clicking the “Activated” button.
2. Install WordPress Themes With Upload Method
As I explained in the first method, the search method can only be done if the WordPress theme you want to install is already in the WordPress.org directory, but if you want to install a WordPress theme from a premium WordPress theme provider such as Mythemeshop, and Elegant themes or any other WordPress theme developer, you need to use this second method which is uploading from the WordPress Admin.
First, please download the .zip file from a premium theme provider or a theme from a WordPress theme provider.
Please login to your WordPress admin area and click Appearance »Themes.
Once you are on the Themes page, click on the Add New button at the top or click on “Add New” themes.
On the next page, click on the “Upload Themes” button at the top.
You will be asked to select the zip file that you downloaded earlier. Select the files that are on your computer and click Install Now.
Once your theme is installed, you will see a success message along with a link to activate and a preview of the theme.
Click the “Activated” button, and you have successfully installed and activated your WordPress theme. Depending on your theme, you may add additional setup options that you may need to configure either through the theme customizer or through a separate options panel.
Note: The theme upload function is only available to self-hosted WordPress users. If you are using WordPress.com, you will not see this option because the upload feature is limited to WordPress.com users.
3. Install a WordPress Theme Using FTP
This third install method for WordPress themes is a slightly more complicated method than the 2 methods above and it is basically not for beginners. But by trying this way you will increase your experience and knowledge in managing your website. This third way is to install a WordPress theme using FTP.
To get started you have to install FTP software on your computer, you can use Filezilla or see the list of ftp software here. After you have installed the FTP software you will need to log in using the FTP account that you got from your hosting service provider.
After successfully connecting with the WordPress files on your hosting server. Please enter the “Themes” folder which is located at (/ wp-content / themes /). Once you’re there, simply upload your theme folder there.
