Typography or typeface is a science in selecting and arranging letters by arranging their distribution in the available spaces, to create a certain impression, so that it can help readers to get the maximum possible reading comfort (Wikipedia).
In the world of design, Typography is so important to support design, Typography has a goal so that readers get convenience and comfort, both in terms of seeing the clarity of letter forms (legibility) and legibility (readability). Therefore, in the world of web design, Fonts are an important element to support the design of a website, even though a simple web design is supported by good fonts, it will make the site look attractive and elegant. The largest forum in Indonesia, Kaskus, recently changed the Font on its website to make it look fresher and spoil the eyes of both visitors and Kaskusers.
For the new font used by Kaskus is called Balsamiq Sans Font but in the official Kaskus thread it is written Balsemic, either they are writing it wrong or I am wrong, but after I searched on Google there was only a font called Balsamic Sans Font, and when viewed with add ons firebug to see the CSS code the name is indeed Balsamiq (CMIIW).
Balsamiq Sans Font
This is the font used in wireframes created with versions of Balsamiq Mockups since version 2.1. And now free fonts have been created for you to use outside of Mockups too! This font is available for free, if you want to beautify your site with this Balsamiq Font you can download it here. Below is a sample of the Balsamiq Sans Font for Regular and Bold.
This new font is still used for the desktop version of the Kaskus web and only in The Lounge forum, for the FJB Forum and others it still uses the old font, namely Open Sans, of course the Open Sans font is also a good font and lots of users too. I personally think that the new fonts used today are also nice to look at and fresh, many Kaskusers like it, some Kaskus prefer the old font. How about you? Are you interested in using the same font as the new Kaskus font?
Here’s an article about the new Kaskus font, I hope it’s useful for you. 🙂
