How to Install Google Calendar on WordPress
The first thing you need to do is install and activate the plugin Simple Calendar – Google Calendar Plugin. There are many plugins that you can use, but in this article I will use the most popular of most plugins of this kind. After you activate the plugin, you need to visit the page Settings »Calendar to configure the plugin.
Since you will be using one of Google’s services, you will need to link the Simple Calendar plugin with Google Calendar. For that you need to create and provide a Google API Key so that the plugin can access your Calendar.
To get the Google API Key please visit the site Google Developer Console and sign in with your google account, click the menu Create a project.
After you click Create a project you will see a popup appear and please enter your project name. You can make a name whatever you want, but it’s better if you give it a name that fits your project so it’s easy to remember and look up again. As an example I will fill in a new project with the name “Calendar”.
Next you will be directed to your project dashboard where you need to click on the link Enable and Manage API Keys.
You will be taken to a page that displays all Google products and services. Please look for the Calendar API which is located under the Google Apps APIs menu.
On the next page, you will be asked to confirm that you want to enable the Calendar API. Just click on the button Enable API to continue,
While your API is now enabled, you will still need details on how you will access the API and what Crendentials you will use. Click the overview menu and click the button Go to Credentials to continue.
This will take you to a page where you need to select Credentials. We will use the API Key as a credential for connecting Google Calendar with WordPress. Click on the API Key link to continue.
Now you are asked to choose where you will use the key. Because you’re going to use it on server key, You need to click on the Server button to continue.
Next you need to provide a name for the key that you will use. Fill in the name that suits you and leave the fields blank IP Address and click the button Create and your API key is now complete
Now Copy the API key that you have created to enter in plugin settings and don’t forget to click on the save changes button to store your settings.
