5 Ways to Check Hard Disk Health in Windows 10 – Hard drive or Hard disk is the most important part of your PC computer, the place where all your most important data is stored. While most computer components are replaceable, invaluable important data on your hard disk cannot be replaced if you haven’t backed it up. 1. Use Optimize and Defrag in Windows 10

You can use this tool to check hard disk health and fix bad sectors and errors if possible.
To use CHKDSK, right-click on the hard disk you want to check for errors, and select “Properties.” Then click on the “Tools” tab, and then click the “Check now” button.
A dialog will open with two options for fixing errors and scanning for bad sectors. You can select this option if you want to fix errors and bad sectors; otherwise you can simply click “Start” to get a basic report on hard disk problems (if any).
This tool is very basic and focuses on finding system errors and hard disk bad sectors. It will only alert you if there is a major problem and nothing more, so just use it as a basic check and repair tool on your hard disk.
4. Use WMIC
WMIC is a command line interface that allows you to perform many administrative tasks, including checking hard disk health. It uses the SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) feature of the hard disk to view status and provide simple conclusions, such as “OK” or “Pred Fail,” etc. It’s still a very basic command that offers very little information, but is fast and is a built-in Windows feature.

5. Use Hard disk Health Checking Software
You can also use third-party hard disk health check tools which will offer a lot more information than just good or bad status. These tools use the same “SMART” feature of the hard disk to retrieve data, just like WMIC. However, they give you all the details, rather than just showing good or bad status.
For checking hard disk health, CrystalDiskInfo is a very simple, but powerful tool. It is a very light free tool and offers all the necessary information, such as providing important information about temperature, health status, hard disk type and features, and other attributes such as read / write error rate and play time, etc.
CrystalDiskInfo it is very light only 4 MB, and when the install process will contain ads, so make sure you use the “Custom Installer” option and uncheck the side (ad) to get rid of ads.
